Fundraising for Alex's Service Dog
Our son Alex has been approved for an autism service dog through National Service Dogs.
We've been asked to raise the $ 30 000 it takes to raise and train a service dog. This isn't mandatory, as we will receive a dog regardless. But NSD runs entirely on donations and this will allow another family to get a dog for their child.
Service dogs can provide safety, companionship and independence for children with autism. They can make a huge difference for families who are trapped at home due to fears of bolting or unmanageable behaviours. A dog will never lie, be sarcastic or try and trick their child, they are always direct with their emotional responses, making it easier for a child with autism to understand and bond with.
Please donate if you can.

Choosing Therapies and Treatment isn’t about specific types of treatment. Instead it’s about what you should be looking for in a therapist or treatment expert. Every child with autism is unique and there’s no universal treatment.
Changing Challenging Behaviours is a basic overview of the Applied Behaviour Analysis system. While I recognize that not every child works best with the intense behaviour treatment based on ABA, the system of figuring out what is behind challenging behaviours is an effective way to understand what your child is trying to tell you. Understanding is the first step to trying to change the problem.
Communication offers ideas on how you can help your child with autism to communicate. Without an ability to tell you what he or she wants, frustration quickly leads to behaviour problems.
Referrals for Families are options for families with special needs to enjoy some of the ordinary experiences in life. It lists examples of non-therapy professionals and businesses who are willing and able to adapt to autistic children.

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this post I'm very intersted in this topic. Vets in bundaberg All of us have the urge to "deal with issues now" and we will not finish the dialogue till there's a decision. That is neither wholesome nor practical, many points take time and appreciable thought earlier than coming to a conclusion.
